Exactly 80 days until the «Matterhorn Cervino Speed Opening»! The preparations for the men's World Cup downhill on 11./12. November and the ladies World Cup downhill on 18./19. November are in full swing. On Thursday, August 24th, a joint inspection by representatives of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) and those responsible for the "Matterhorn Cervino Speed Opening" took place. The FIS gives the local organizers a good report. Zermatt and Cervinia are ready.

FIS Congress: green light for the World Cup calendars

The 54th Congress of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation held in Zurich today (Thursday 25th May) officialised the World Cup calendars for the 2023/2024 winter season. Guest races instead of World Cup races

As is well known, the World Cup downhill races in Zermatt/Cervinia fell victim to the warm temperatures; the premiere of the first cross-border World Cup race had to be cancelled as a result, to the great regret of everyone involved. The fact that there was still a happy winner on the podium on Saturday, 29 October 2022, is thanks to the Zermatt Tourist Board and the partners of the Speed Opening, who organized instead of a World Cup race a guest race.
