FIS snow check on the "Gran Becca": Green light for the men's World Cup downhill races!

The representatives of the local organising committee and the International Ski and Snowboard Federation FIS found bright blue skies and perfect winter conditions on the "Gran Becca". In exactly two weeks, the first of four planned runs will be on the programme on this course in front of the Matterhorn. Preparations for the two weeks of racing are in full swing in all areas. Franz Julen, President of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), says: "Today is an important step. The positive snow control makes me especially happy for all the people in the team who work with so much heart and soul for these races every day. We will all work together to put on a top event. We are proud to bring the Ski World Cup back to Breuil-Cervinia after 46 years and in Zermatt we even had to wait 56 years for the world's best ski cracks to come back to the foot of the Matterhorn."

The "Gran Becca" is already presenting itself in an impressive winter dress two weeks before the first race. Christian Ziörjen, CEO of the local organising committee, says: "If we are lucky with the weather on the race days, we will send fantastic winter pictures to the world. Needless to say, we are excited to see how the best downhill skiers in the world will perform on the spectacular race piste." The wintry conditions on the Theodul Glacier mean that ski teams from around the world will benefit from excellent training conditions in the run-up to the races.

Limited number of tickets and Sunrise Fanzone

Tickets for the individual race days at the Matterhorn Cervino Speed Opening are available at www.speedopening.com. A good two thirds of the downhill course can be seen from both the finish stands and the "Cime Bianche Corner" in the finish area in "Laghi Cime Bianche", which is not the case at any other World Cup race.

Tickets for these unique races are only available in advance. There will be no ticket sales on site. Due to the limited spectator capacity in the finish area, the "Sunrise Fanzone" will be set up on Testa Grigia at the national border with a video wall, race commentary and catering facilities. Admission to this is free, but a rail ticket is required.
