30 days before the first race: Pleasing developments on the “Gran Becca” and two spectacular Swiss Army attractions in the program

Exactly one month before the first race, positive signals regarding the piste and snow situation were reported. Yesterday's inspection of the "Gran Becca" showed that the glacier part is ready. The required infrastructure such as cables and fiber optics will be laid and networks will be attached to these two thirds of the runway. Franz Julen, President of the local organizing committee, says: “The current high temperatures for autumn conditions are not having a negative impact on the preparation of the slopes. We are confident and not worried at all.”

The five covered snow depots in the lower part of the route add to your confidence. The top snow depot in the “Plateau Rosa Schuss” area at the end of the glacier was the first to be removed yesterday so that all of the snow from all snow depots can be distributed over the lower third within the next two weeks. The amount of snow stored is by far sufficient. The snow depots form Plan B for the slope preparation of the non-glacier part. Plan A is and will remain natural and technical snow. The weather forecast reports colder temperatures and some precipitation for the weekend. Franz Julen says: "Both will help us and make us optimistic. But as always, nature has the last word in skiing.”

The institution Patrouille Suisse and the new attraction Swiss Parawings

In addition to the news on the slopes, the local organizing committee can also make an exciting announcement about the pre-race program. While the Patrouille Suisse aircraft will put on a show on Saturday, November 11th before the men's downhill run, the parachutes from Swiss Parawings can be admired in the preliminary program of the women's downhill run on Saturday, November 18th.

The Patrouille Suisse is probably the best-known demonstration team in the Swiss Army. Since 1964, it has demonstrated the performance, precision and operational readiness of the Swiss Air Force at home and abroad. The pilots of Patrouille Suisse are professional military pilots from the Swiss Air Force's commercial aviation corps. Patrouille Suisse has enjoyed great popularity for almost 60 years and embodies typically Swiss values ​​that the team has acquired over years of work: precision, discipline, dynamism and reliability.

The Swiss Parawings SPW display team, founded in 2021, brings together all demonstration jumps by the Swiss Army's parachuting units and shows them in uniform on civil and military occasions. It is therefore the youngest display team in the Swiss Army. In contrast to the other army display teams, the Swiss Parawings are all militia members - which means that they pursue very different jobs in their civilian life.

The flying and jumping demonstrations by all display teams do not generate any additional Air Force flights. The pilots' flying hours flown during the demonstrations are fully credited to their flying hours budget, which they would otherwise fly elsewhere in the form of training. Furthermore, no additional emissions or costs are generated. In addition, the Air Force has been flying with a proportion of sustainable fuel since August.

Limited number of tickets and Sunrise Fanzone

Tickets for the individual racing days at the “Matterhorn Cervino Speed ​​Opening” are available at www.speedopening.com. A good two-thirds of the downhill route can be seen from both the finish grandstands and from the “Cime Bianche Corner” in the finish area in “Laghi Cime Bianche”, which is not the case in any other World Cup race.

Tickets are only available in advance. There will be no ticket sales on site. Due to the limited spectator capacity in the finish area, the “Sunrise Fanzone” with a video wall, race commentary and catering options will be set up on Testa Grigia near the national border. Admission is free. A train ticket is required.
