The third women's training session falls victim to the wind

Strong gusts of wind across the entire Gran Becca early on Friday morning led to the cancellation of the planned third women's training session as part of the Matterhorn Cervino Speed Opening.

The weather forecast for Friday predicts no improvement. The jury - which includes members of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation FIS and the local organising committee - has therefore decided not to postpone the event and has cancelled the last training run early.

The supporting programme is not affected by the cancellation: at 18.30, the starting number draw will be held in the Gran Becca Village in Cervinia with the ten best downhill skiers for the first race on Saturday. The supporting programme in Zermatt will also take place as planned.

The first downhill of the 2023/24 World Cup season is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 18 November. The start is scheduled for 11.45 am.
