The men's 2nd training session has been cancelled due to the current weather conditions!
cr: MCSO, Gian Lucca Red Gobbi
The second men's training session planned for the downhill races next weekend (11/12 November) cannot take place on Thursday due to poor visibility.
Before the cancellation, the organisers pulled out all the stops to be able to hold this second training session. The start was brought forward from 11.30 am to 11.00 am as a precautionary measure in view of the weather forecast. In addition, the athletes would have raced from the women's start instead of the original start and the start interval would have been reduced to 1:15 minutes.
The piste would have been in optimum condition for the event. However, the persistent fog at 11.00 a.m. meant that the training session had to be cancelled for good. The third planned training session is scheduled for tomorrow Friday at 11.30 am.
Limited number of tickets and Sunrise Fan Zone
Tickets for the individual race days at the Matterhorn Cervino Speed Opening are available at www.speedopening.com. A good two-thirds of the downhill course can be seen from the finish stands as well as from the "Cime Bianche Corner" in the finish area in "Laghi Cime Bianche", which is not the case at any other World Cup race. The grandstands for Saturday's downhill are sold out. Tickets are still available for Sunday and the women's downhill on the following weekend of 18/19 November.
Due to the limited spectator capacity in the finish area, the "Sunrise Fanzone" with video wall, race commentary and catering facilities will be set up on Testa Grigia near the national border. Admission is free, but a mountain railway ticket is required.
