The first women's downhill on Saturday has been cancelled due to the current weather conditions!
The first of two women's downhill races planned for this weekend cannot take place due to the weather. The strong wind makes a race impossible. The safety of all those involved is not guaranteed under these conditions.
The second run on Sunday is still scheduled to start at 11.45 am.
Franz Julen, President of the local organising committee, says: "Today's decision is once again tough, but the right one. Skiing is an outdoorsport. There have always been and will always be cancellations due to external conditions. Nature has the last word. We will do everything we can to hold the women's downhill tomorrow Sunday."
Tickets for Sunday's downhill
Tickets for Sunday's second downhill are available at www.speedopening.com. A good two-thirds of the downhill course will be visible from the finish stands as well as from the "Cime Bianche Corner" in the finish area in "Laghi Cime Bianche", which is not the case at any other World Cup race.
Due to the limited spectator capacity in the finish area, the "Sunrise Fanzone" will be set up on Testa Grigia near the national border with a video wall, race commentary and catering facilities. Admission is free, but a mountain railway ticket is required.
