The first men's downhill has been cancelled due to the current weather conditions!

The first of two men's downhill races planned for this weekend cannot take place due to the weather conditions. The heavy snowfall last night and this morning, as well as the strong wind, make a race impossible. The safety of all those involved is not guaranteed under these conditions.
The second planned downhill on Sunday is still scheduled for 11.30 am.
Franz Julen, President of the local organising committee, says: "Today's decision is tough, but the right one. Skiing is an outdoorsport. There have always been and will always be cancellations due to external conditions. Nature has the last word. I'm sorry for today's cancellation for everyone involved, who have been working so hard for two years on this innovative project. Nevertheless, we have shown the world that Zermatt and Cervinia are already experiencing high winter conditions at the beginning of November. We will do everything we can to realise the three other planned descents."
Tickets for the three further downhill races
Tickets for the following race days at the Matterhorn Cervino Speed Opening are available at www.speedopening.com. A good two-thirds of the downhill course will be visible from the finish stands as well as from the "Cime Bianche Corner" in the finish area in "Laghi Cime Bianche", which is not the case at any other World Cup race. Tickets are still available for the men's downhill on Sunday and the women's downhill next weekend (18/19 November).
Due to the limited spectator capacity in the finish area, the "Sunrise Fanzone" will be set up on Testa Grigia near the national border with a video wall, race commentary and catering facilities. Admission is free, but a mountain railway ticket is required.
