Priska Nufer opens the third Matterhorn training run!

The third and final women's training run at the Matterhorn Cervino Speed Opening is scheduled for tomorrow Friday at 11.45 am. 66 racers from 17 different nations have registered to continue familiarising themselves with the 2910 metre long Gran Becca with a difference in altitude of 665 metres.

Priska Nufer achieved the 34th time in the first training run and will be the first to attempt the second run on Friday. Meanwhile, Federica Brignone will be the first Italian to take on the new downhill course in the Italian-Swiss border region. The Aostan skier has been allocated the number 5 jersey. Nina Ortlieb from Austria will be the first racer in the top group immediately afterwards, before Corinne Suter tackles the Gran Becca.

Sofia Goggia, the reigning Downhill World Cup winner and 2018 Olympic champion, has the number 9 on her jersey, as she did for the first training run. Ester Ledecka (Czech Republic) and Ilka Stuhec (Slovenia) will then continue to feel their way round the new speed course. Austria's Christina Ager, who set the fastest time in training on Thursday, will start the third training run in 29th place.

The first women's downhill races in the new 2023/24 World Cup season are scheduled for Saturday, 18 November and Sunday, 19 November. The start time is 11.45 am on both days.
