New attempt: Isabella Wright opens the second downhill training session on Thursday

After the cancellation of Wednesday's training session due to the wind, the speed athletes should be able to have a training run on Thursday. At 11.45 a.m., the US American Isabella Wright will be the first skier to tackle the Gran Becca with a length of 2910 metres and a difference in altitude of 665 metres.

The first "Azzurra" to familiarise herself with the new downhill course in the Italian-Swiss border region is Laura Pirovano. She has been allocated bib number 5 and will therefore take to the piste immediately before Switzerland's Lara Gut-Behrami, who will open the top group. Mirjam Puchner will be the first Austrian on the Gran Becca before birthday girl Sofia Goggia - the Olympic champion turned 31 today, Wednesday - catapults out of the starting gate.

Czech Ester Ledecka has been allocated bib 10, while Corinne Suter, another ace of the strong Swiss team, will complete the top group with bib 15.

A total of 66 racers from 17 different nations have registered for the second downhill training session at the Matterhorn Cervino Speed Opening. The first World Cup downhill races of the winter are scheduled for next Saturday and Sunday. The start time is 11.45 am.
