CEO Christian Ziörjen in a short interview before the start!
Christian Ziörjen, CEO of the local organising committee, gives an insight into his final thoughts before the start of the Matterhorn Cervino Speed Opening on the eve of the first training session.
What is the focus of your work as CEO so close to the races?
So the main part of my work is actually done. It was a full year of planning, full year of concepts, but now a lot f people work for us. A lot of people are here, but the daily business now, which is actually that people are calling, people are asking here, where is that ? Give me the phone number of this guy and so on. So it’s a lot of coordinating and just being present.
How much tension do you personally feel after months of preparation and how do you deal with it?
Yeah the excitement is it quite high. It’s a bit of nervosity as well but actually in the end, yeah we did a good planning and we are quite sure that everything will work. The only thing that we cannot control is the weather. The weather as I say , we have no influence and therefore I’m quite relaxed. If it happens, it happens and if not, it will not happen.
What is your biggest wish for the next two weeks?
So my biggest issue in the next two weeks is actually, first of all that we can have four races with great weather, with great conditions, spread pictures all over the world. My second wish is actually that all the team, all the people working here, that this hard work pays off for them and that they are happy in the end. They come back, they talk good about that, about our event, they come back next year and that’s it.
